The latest statics released on eMarketer Daily yesterday show that 41% of the US Internet user population visited social network sites at least once a month – an 11% increase from 2007. Were you one of them? Do you have a presence on Facebook or Myspace? Can someone Twitter you? Or can you be Yelped?

We would like to offer a new service called the Social Networking Package. Before we go any further, let's answer a few questions:

What is social networking?

Social networking refers to a broad class of web sites (Facebook, MySpace, Digg, YouTube) and services that allow you to connect with friends, family, clients and colleagues online, as well as meet people with similar interests or hobbies.

Why do I need this social networking?

Americans age 35-49 spend on average 91 hours per month on the Internet (outside of work). 60% of Americans said they interact with companies on a social media web sites, and 25% interact more than once per week. 93% of Americans believe a company should have a presence in social media, while an overwhelming 85% believe a company should not only be present but also interact with its consumers via social media. If you do not have a presence in the Social Networking world, you could be missing out on a significant resource for new business.

How often do I need to be on these sites?

We suggest you or someone in your office spend at least 30 minutes a week on them. A fun way to incorporate this program into your office is to encourage your team members to join and participate with you. You may find that most of your team members are either already on one or more of these networks or know how to use them. So, joining with you in this endeavor won’t be all that challenging for them. Remember, the more involvement your clients see from you, the more they will come to try you and want to do business with you.

How does the procedure work?

Once you sign-up, ODG sends you a simple questionnaire. These questions include information about your business, experience, training, awards, current website, and some brief personal information. We’ll also ask you to send your email database in a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet for integration.

How do I learn how to use these tools?

The most effective learning tool for these sites are the sites themselves. You will find as you log on and start engaging with the site, it is pretty self explanatory. We will also be offering monthly webinars on how to effectively use these networking sites.
